PyeongChang Winter Olympic 2018: Venue

After losing the previous bids to host the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympic Games, PyeongChang has finally gained the opportunity to host the 2018 Winter Olympics Games. 

This will be the first Winter Olympics Games and the second Olympics Games in South Korea.

PyeongChang Mountain Cluster and Gangneung Coastal Cluster will be the two main venues for the 2018 Winter Olympics. There is a total of thirteen stadiums will be used to host the Olympics Games.

Visitors can reach PyeongChang by taking KTX which take about 70 minutes from Seoul to Gangneung. There is also YeongDong Expressway Route 1 and Route 2 that connect Gwangju and Wonju which expected to distribute the traffic volume between Seoul area and Gangwon Province.

PyeongChang Winter Olympic 2018: Test Event

In less than 1 year time, Winter Olympic 2018 will be kicked off in PyeongChang, South Korea. Before that, Olympic Test Events had been carried out since February 2016 and expected 

to end in April 2017. 

The Olympic Test Events served as the opportunity for athletes and officials to familiarise 

themselves with the competition venues and the host region. It will also be an ideal platform 

for the public to participate and engage with the events and the Games.

There is a total of 29 events inclusive of 20 Olympic events, 5 Paralympic events, 

2 non-competition events, and 2 non-sport events.

Bamboo House Korean BBQ @ Sunway Mentari

As a meat lover and a fan of Korean food, I love Samgyeopsal very much. 

Found from FB, I decided to give a try for samgyeopsal in Sunway Mentari named 

Bamboo House Korean BBQ.

Yes, you are right! 

All you can eat with refilled unlimitedly with only Rm27 for lunch and Rm29 for dinner.

 I like the interior very much where it have the local Korea feel. 

Once seated, the staff will start to serve with the side dishes and pancake. Kimchi is the soul
of a Korean restaurant and yes, I do enjoyed their Kimchi very much. After the charcoal
and stove ready, the staff will serve with the meat. There are pork shoulder and pork belly
that customers can choose from.

 They also served soup, not only one but 2 type of soup, Kimchi soup and Soy Paste soup. The soup is really good to eat together with rice. Rice can be add on with Rm3 by request.

The customer can continuously ask for the refill for all the meat and side dishes. Even the
 pancake are allowed to refill. There is a note on the wall to remind the customers not to over
refill to avoid wastage.

Is this look good and attempting?

I was there at 7pm when I can have my seat straight away but when i was about to leave at 8.30pm, there was a long queue waiting for the seat.

If doesn't wish to wait, do remember to be there slightly earlier.

Wow! PyeongChang! Malaysia Supporter Program

I am the Malaysia Supporter of the PyeongChang Winter Olympic 2018! 

Wow!PyeongChang Supporter Program is a Global Supporter program hat organized by 

Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) to promote 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic through

online activity. 

The event started with the welcome speech by Mr Lee YoungGeun, Managing Director of 

KTO Malaysia.

The event continued with presentation by Ms Nuri Kim, the Tourism Marketing Manager of Gangwon Province on PyeongChang Olympic Games 2018 Overview and also the 

Wow! PyeongChang! Supporter Program.   

Wow! PyeongChang! Malaysia Supporter Program had gathered more than 60 social influencers and blogger from different places of Malaysia to promoted PyeongChang Olympic Games to Malaysian.

Outside of KTO office, there is also the mascot of PyeongChang Winter Olympic 2018, 

Suhorang and Bandabi.

Suhorang is the white tiger. The name 'Sooho', mean protection in Korean, symbolizes protection to all the participants in the games, while 'Rang' is come from the middle letter of 'Ho-rang-i', the korean word for tiger and also the last letter of 'Jeongseon A-ri-rang, a cherished traditional folk song of Gangwon Province. 

Bandabi is the black bear with a half-moon mark on the chest, symbolize the strong willpower and courage in Korean people. 'Banda' mean the Korean word for half moon while 'Bi' mean the celebration of the Games.

Last but not least, we must take group photos as memory... =)

Black Tower Coffee @ Cheras

Who said we will need to travel to Paris for Eiffel Tower? Malaysia has one in Cheras area named Black Tower. Located in C180, Black Tower can be seen easily from the main highway.

The tower had attracted a lot of visitors to take photos and at the same time try the food and drinks in the cafe.

The cafe is very spacious. It have indoor session for those scared of hot weather and outdoor session for those enjoy the wind especially during night time. 

Back Tower Coffee is a half self-service cafe where customers are required to make the orders at the counter and pay once ordered. However, the foods and drinks will be served to customers once it's ready by the staffs. 

The portion is a little more than I thought. It will be nice if can ordered a few different dishes and shared among the customers.   

They did served waffles, cakes and also ice cream as dessert. I had tried the fruits waffle and it was very good. 

There are several choices of all day breakfast for the customers to choose from. The portion is big as you can act it as a lunch or even dinner.

Flavoured Hagfish(eel) 양념꼼장어 @ Haeundae Market

 Went to Haeundae beach, one of the famous beach especially during summer. Took Subway Line 1, to Haeundae station exit No.5, the beach is just about 10 minutes walk away.

 The view of Haeundae beach was not clear as it was drizzly with strong wind that day. I was freezing as the temperature only at 18c with strong wind. 

With that, we decided to go Haeundae Traditional Market for our early dinner. 

There were lots of restaurants and food stalls on the both side of the alley. Most of them are 

selling seafood as seafood are famous in Busan. After go and forth, we decided to go in one 

of the restaurants that selling hagfish.

There are 2 methods of cooking the hagfish, hot spicy pepper or salted. We decided to go for hot spicy pepper just in case we can't accept the taste of hagfish. Strong flavoured will always help in this kind of situation. The ahjumma served us with the side dishes once we place the order. The newly killed hagfish was still moving when it served.

This is the medium portion for 2 to 3 people and we did order fried rice as well.

 The nice ahjumma even showed us on how we suppose to eat in the local way. Wrap the meat 

with side dishes and vegetables then it can be eaten. The hagfish are very chewy and taste 

good with the sauce. 

The ahjumma bring plain rice and some other ingredients to us when we ate half of the meal. 

She added in the rice, seaweed and some cheese then fried together with the hagfish. The fried rice is awesome with the cheese with it.

Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market (서귀포매일 올레시장) @ Jeju-do

Travellers to Jeju Island will definitely know about Dongmun Market Place, one of the 

well-known traditional market in Jeju Downtown. However, in Seogwipo, another part of 

Jeju Island, Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market is really some place that worth to recommend.

I was amazed by the clean and nice market's condition. Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market have different stalls that sell a variety of things, include foods, fruits, clothes, and so on. Some stalls are also selling local products such as Jeju chocolate and snacks.

There is ahjumma that selling the famous Jeju Mandarin Orange, Hallabong. 

1 basket is selling at 10,000₩, normally 5 to 6 oranges depend on the sizes.

I was attracted by one of the stalls which full with people busy to line up. It is a food stall selling black pork skewer. Decided to give it a try due to the crowd and ordered 2 skewers without understand the menu.  

The skewers are mix with black pork, some bell pepper and Korean Rice Cake (Teok). I tried 

both mild and slight spicy but still prefer mild flavor as i cant really take spicy. 

The sauce is an add point for it.

After the black pork skewer, another stall that draw my attention is this, the one having long queue.

After having a close look, this stall is selling Hallabong juice and Orange Hareubang (cake with orange paste).

Even the children in KBS variety show, "The return of Superman" tried this before. 

The stalls in Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market are individual so the working hours are different based on their own preference. My first visit to this market was my first day at 9pm but all of the stalls had closed by that hour.
