PyeongChang Winter Olympic 2018 : Tourist Attractions in PyeongChang

You might already know that PyeongChang is going to held the Winter Olympic 2018. 
However, what else do you know about this place? Let's me tell you some tourist attractions that 
you shouldn't miss when visiting PyeongChang. 

PyeongChang, also known as Pyeongchang-gun (平昌郡) is located in Gangwon Province in 
South Korea. It is located about 180km east of Seoul, the capital of South Korea. 

Daegwallyeong Skyranch (대관령 하늘목장)
Location: 468, Hoenggye-ri Daegwalnyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do.

Since 1974, Sky Ranch has a more than 40 years history with a ranch of 9 million square meters. There is about 400 Holstein cows are bred up along with hundred of Korean cows (Hanu) in an eco-friendly way. Located in highland, the cozy weather with the well-preserved environment can give the best nature ranch experience to all the visitors. 



Samyang Eco Green Campus (삼양목장)
Location: 708-9, Kkotbadyangji-gil, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do

Samyang Ranch is the Asia's largest green pasture where milking cows are feed on the fresh and clean grass. The plateau which reaching a height of 1,470 meters provides an amazing view to the visitors. From the Daegwallyeong Observatory, visitors can also see as far as Gangneung, Jumunjin and even the East Sea beyond. 

The famous movie 'my wife is a gangster 3', 'when romance meets destiny' and others were 
filmed here. 



Uiyaji Wind Village (평창 의야지 바람마을)
Location: 137, Kkotbadyangji-gil, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do

Uiyaji Baram Maeul is a mountain village situated on the top of Daegwallyeong. Visitors can enjoy activities such as making cheese or ice cream as well as enjoying the beautiful sight of windmills by standing high above the frozen plain. 

Besides, visitors can taste the various food including memil-mandu (buckwheat dumpling), 
ongsimi-kalguksu (handmade knife-cut noodles with sweet rice dough soup), gamja-jeon 
(potatoes pancakes), memil-kalguksu (buckwheat knife-cue noodles), sanchae-bibimbap 
(seasoned wild vegetable bibimbap), and more. 



Woljeongsa Temple (월정사)
Location: 374-8, Odaesan-ro, Jinbu-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do

Woljeongsa Temple is located in a forested valley east of Odaesan Mountain, which composed of 60 temples and 8 monasteries that made into one large temple. It was established by Monk Ja Jang. In Woljeongsa Temple, there is the Seongbo Museum that visitors can view the Buddhist culture of the Goryeo Dynasty (918-1392), the nine-storey octagonal pagoda named Sari-Pagoda, and the Stone Seated Buddha figure. 

Woljeongsa Temple was restored after the Korean war in 1950 when the Chilbulbojeon, Yeongsanjeon, Gwaneungjeon, and other buildings were burned down. 
There are 22 pagodas that hold the remains of the monks who had lived there.  




Yongpyong Ski Resort (용평리조트 스키장)
Location: 715, Olympic-ro, Daegwanryeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do

Yongpyong Resort located at the center of Korea's Baekdudaegan Mountain Range. With the average of 250 centimeters of snowfall per season, Yongpyong Resort is a place that excellent for skiing. There are other facilities includes a 45-hole golf course, swimming pools, allows the visitors to escape from daily life. 

Yongpyong Resort has hosted a number of international competitions including World Cup Ski Competition and the Asian Winter Games. It is one of the most popular ski resorts in South Korea. 

The famous drama 'Goblin' was filmed here where the main actress is seen working as a part-timer at a ski resort. Apart from 'Goblin',  this resort was also the filming site for what is regarded as the "original" hallyu drama, 'Winter Sonata' in the year 2012.
